After a whirlwind summer of family events, we celebrated our one-year anniversary by reflecting on our achievements.
Last year, Peterborough was awarded £3.2m to develop three Family Hubs in the city. Since launching:
- We increased footfall by 139% as a result of more services being provided and increased awareness.
- We delivered almost 25,000 face-to-face sessions in 2023-24, an increase of 17.5% on the previous year.
- The uptake of Healthy Start vouchers increased from 25.6% in 2022 to 77% in 2024 as a result of our staff checking families’ eligibility and helping them to sign up. This enables families in need to buy vitamins, milk, fruit and other healthy food.
- 80% of mothers who participated in a perinatal mental health support session reported improved mood scores.
- We provided free events for families over the summer holidays, which were fully booked within days and provided fun educational activities to hundreds of children.
- A total of 31 organisations now deliver support through our Family Hubs, and 434 professionals and volunteers have accessed training via our workforce development programme to help them support families more effectively.
- We’ve launched a fourth Family Hub at East Children’s Centre on Durham Road due to the success of our other hubs.
We’re proud of what we’ve been able to achieve for Peterborough families this year. We want to say a huge thank-you to all of our fantastic staff who put children at the heart of everything they do.
Next up on our calendar is the Christmas lights switch-on in November – we’ll be there with festive goodies and ideas for activities to do with your children.
If you’ve never visited a family hub or want to find out more about the services we provide, you can find out more in the Family Hubs section.
