During March you will receive your new tax bill for the year. During this time we often receive a high volume of calls. The following frequently asked questions may answer you question without needing to wait in a queue.
If you look at the instalments section of the bill it will either say 10 or 12 instalments by monthly direct debit or monthly cash payments.
Cash payments - means any manual payment method listed on the back of your bill or on our Council Tax payment options page.
Usually, the bill is already set out in 10 or 12 monthly payments. If you have previously requested weekly or another frequency and want to change to monthly Direct Debit, please complete a Direct Debit request form on our self-service portal.

You can email local.taxation@peterborough.gov.uk to request this change. Please include your Council Tax account number in your email. Paying over 12 instalments is a way to reduce your monthly costs.

You can set up a Direct Debit online, please complete a Direct Debit request form on our self-service portal. You only need to do this once, as it will renew each year.
Your payments will be taken over 10 months, the first payment will be taken in April followed by a further 9 uniform monthly payments between May and January. If you add up the total of the 10 payments the total will match the total amount shown on your bill.
