As well as support from your Personal Adviser, we may also be able to offer you additional practical and emotional support.
Friends and family
We can help you connect with family members or important people who cared for you in the past, where possible. This might include friends, teachers or other professionals who had a special part to play in your life, previous foster or residential carers, and social workers.
If you have family such as brothers and sisters who are still in care, we will support and encourage you to keep connected and spend time with them, if this is what you all want.
If you are a separated migrant young person and have lost contact after seeking asylum and want to contact your family or try to find missing family members, the Red Cross offers a family finding service and your Personal Adviser can assist you in contacting them.
Other relationships
- Your Personal Adviser will help you to develop a support network around you.
- Where appropriate, continuing the support time with the ‘Independent Visitor’ you might have had while in care.
- Support for healthy relationships – we can offer and signpost to advice on staying safe in your relationships including safe sexual relationships and help to avoid or address situations where you might be mistreated or exploited.
- Your Personal Adviser will be able to support you and share information about local and national organisations that can help further should you need.
