  • Ensure that you have a central part in the recruitment of staff across all roles and at all levels in the Children and Young People Service and the Council – especially those that have responsibilities for or have a key role with care leavers.
  • Provide mentoring opportunities for you from directors and senior managers within the council.

Peterborough Care Leaders and Separated Migrant Children and Young Person’s Group

These are groups where you get the opportunity to meet with others, socialise and contribute to making positive changes to how you are supported by the local authority. You are provided with a safe space to have your say and make suggestions. If you would like to get involved, speak to your Personal Adviser or contact the Participation team.

We want your help

You can get also get involved in making future services better through change and improvement as a: 

  • young recruiter
  • young trainer
  • young inspector

As a young person with care experience we want your help to:

  • Interview potential candidates for jobs in Children’s Services
  • Visit services that work with children and young people and give us your views on how they can improve
  • Help train student social workers and staff and foster carers 'so they can be the best they can be' when working with and caring for you.
