Residents in Peterborough are being reminded that the council will operate on special opening hours over the Christmas and New Year period.
Residents can contact the council’s customer call centre for general enquiries, but the centre will only be open on certain dates and times.
The call centre team will be working until 12pm on Christmas Eve and then from 9am to 5pm between Christmas and New year - with the exception of benefits, council tax and parking lines (these will be closed for the Christmas period and re-open on Thursday 2 January).

Please also bear in mind that the call centre traditionally receives a high volume of calls in the run up to Christmas, so calls may take longer than normal to be answered.
Customers are reminded that receptions at Peterborough Town Hall and Sand Martin House will remain closed over the Christmas period.

Household Recycling Centre
The Household Recycling Centre will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day, and will close at 12pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. For more information visit here.

During out-of-hour periods, an emergency service is available by calling 01733 747474 and selecting option 4.
Children's social care
During out-of-hour periods, an emergency service is available by calling 01733 234724.
Housing support
The council's Housing Needs Department will be closed for all non-emergency enquiries from 12pm on Christmas Eve until 9am on 2 January. If you are homeless due to an emergency and have nowhere to stay please call 01733 864157.
The Housing Needs Jigsaw Portal will be closed from 11am on Christmas Eve until 9am on 2 January.
Household Support Fund / Cost of Living Hubs
Many of the council's Cost of Living Support Hubs will have reduced hours over the Christmas period, please check www.peterborough.gov.uk before visiting.
