Improving the connection between our city’s train station and the city centre for walkers and cyclist. This piece of work will create a warm welcome entrance to the city.
We aim to:
- Create a great first impression of Peterborough for visitors and commuters
- Cut down on travelling time between the station and city centre
- Create a safer and more visible route between the station and city centre
- Improve accessibility for pedestrians, cyclists and those with restricted mobility
Project status
Following Towns Fund approval of the business case, we have secured £1.5million from the Government for this project which will incorporate into the wider Station Quarter regeneration project. Related funding
The wider Station Quarter area has also achieved funding through the Government's Levelling Up Fund for £48million. This relates to the entire train station area and would include:
- Eastern station building improvements and enhancements
- A new western entrance and multi-story car park - creating a double-sided station
- Consolidating surface level car parking on the eastern side to release land for commercial and residential developments in the future
