List of streets

The list of streets is a document we are required to provide under Section 36(6) of the Highways Act 1980. The document lists all highways maintainable at public expense in Peterborough. These are also known as 'adopted roads' or 'adopted highways'.

Estate roads constructed by developers

We are committed to adopting all residential and industrial estate roads that have been constructed in accordance with the 2012 attached construction specification by direct reference and adherence in a legal agreement completed under a section 38/278 of the Highways Act 1980.

With effect from 5 September 2012, the estate road construction specification was produced to ensure developers are fully aware of the authority's requirements when constructing highways for adoption.

Please also find below the Department for Transport Advice Note - Highway Adoptions dated April 2017, which developers, agents, consultants and members of the public considering purchasing a new build home will find useful.

If you require any further information, please email us on HDteam@peterborough.gov.uk.
