To qualify for rural rate relief, your business must:
- Be located within a designated rural settlement where the population is not more than 3,000 (please see below list of qualifying rural settlements)
- Be the sole general store, post office, public house, qualifying food shop or petrol filling station within the settlement
- Have a rateable value within the prescribed limits (provided below)
The rateable value limits for 100% rural mandatory relief are as follows:
- General stores, post offices and qualifying food shops = £8,500 RV
- Public houses and petrol filling stations = £12,500 RV
