Upcoming elections

UK Parliamentary General Election - 4 July 2024

The Prime Minister has announced that a UK Parliamentary General Election will take place on Thursday 4 July 2024.

Peterborough City Council will administer the elections of the Members of Parliament (MPs) for both the Peterborough and North West Cambridgeshire constituencies. 

The election timetable is as follows:

  • Dissolution of Parliament - Thursday 30 May 2024
  • Publication of Notice of Election - Tuesday 4 June 2024 (4pm)
  • Delivery of nomination papers - between 10am and 4pm on any working day from Wednesday 5 June 2024
  • Deadline for candidates to submit nomination papers - Friday 7 June 2024 (4pm)
  • Deadline for the notification of appointment of election agent - Friday 7 June 2024 (4pm)
  • List of candidates published - Friday 7 June 2024 (5pm)
  • Deadline for registering to vote - Tuesday 18 June 2024 (11.59pm)
  • Deadline for postal vote applications - Wednesday 19 June 2024 (5pm)
  • Deadline for proxy vote applications - Wednesday 26 June 2024 (5pm)
  • Deadline for Voter Authority Certificate applications - Wednesday 26 June 2024 (5pm)
  • Day of poll (election day) - Thursday 4 July 2024 (7am to 10pm)

Stand as a candidate

Anyone wishing to stand as a candidate in the General Election can find out more information on the Electoral Commission website.

We have also published a nomination pack for each constituency. The deadline for candidates to submit their nomination forms is Friday 7 June 2024 at 4pm.

Notice of Election - Parish Councillors - 12 June 2024

Newborough Parish Council

A poll for the election of one parish councillor for Newborough will be held on Wednesday 12 June 2024.

Ufford Parish Council

This election was uncontested. Therefore, the two candidates listed in the notice below have been duly elected as parish councillors for Ufford.

2 May 2024 election results

On Thursday 2 May 2024, elections took place for:

  • 23 city councillors
  • Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Commissioner
